Jo’s training and background is in print journalism. She began her cadetship on The Australian Newspaper and trained in the country’s top newsrooms at News Corp, learning from the ground up – which then led her to work for every major metropolitan newspaper in the country. As such she has supreme writing, editing, grammar and fact-checking skills. She can spot a spelling mistake a mile away! She is also a superb interviewer with a knack for getting subjects to open up in a revealing and fascinating way, often creating that elusive exclusive.
For the past two decades, she has broken thousands of Sydney’s most-read stories through the column she co-founded Sydney Confidential in The Daily Telegraph. She subsequently had regular weekly columns in The Sun Herald and The Sydney Morning Herald and The Sunday Telegraph.
Her status as queen of the social scene – her little black book is unparalleled – lead to Jo writing a weekly social column for News Corp’s The Wentworth Courier – published on dailytelegraph.com.au and part of their Prestige Network of Magazines – as well as writing in-depth cover features on local identities, politicians, business identities and celebrities.
Jo’s obsession with storytelling in any format has always been to find out what makes a person tick, what motivates them and just how they have become the success they are. Whether it is a local identity, a businessman, a politician or a celebrity, she is always determined to get to that nugget of gold for her audience.
